Unit Completion

Students must achieve a pass mark for all assessment items to pass Exercise Science Practicum 2 (12138). As all assessments are a PASS / FAIL grade, no late submissions will be accepted unless prior approval has been granted by the Unit Convener.

Terminology around the achieved grade for assessments in this unit may differ. For this unit, a pass, sufficient or complete grade indicates successful completion of the assessment. A fail, insufficient or incomplete grade refers to the unsuccessful completion of the assessment.

Supplementary assessment

If a student does not pass a placement:
Students who fail any placement during the year based on professional behaviours will be required to undertake supplementary placement, regardless of whether they have met the ESSA clinical placement hours. Professional and respectful behaviour is a core competency but also a requirement of University's WIL policy and Student Placement Agreement.

Students that are deemed to be not yet at graduate-level competency for their final placement in one or more of each of the key units of competency will be required to participate in a support discussion with both the Site Supervisor and Clinical Placement Coordinator to discuss options for remediation and demonstration of competency through further placement experience.

The timing and arrangements for supplementary placements will be determined by the Course Convener and Clinical Placement Coordinator, based on the factors contributing to the student's placement performance and the availability of a suitable placement for re-assessment in a similar context. As such, the supplementary placement may not fall within the current calender year of study, thus failure of a placement may result in delays to course completion and graduation.

If a student also fails to satisfactorily pass the supplementary placement, the student will fail the unit. A meeting will be arranged with the student, the Unit Convener and the Course Convener to discuss, and the student will need to enroll in the unit when it is next offered.

Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at UC. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.

Academic integrity involves the ethical, honest and responsible use, creation and sharing of information. It is critical to the quality of higher education. Our academic integrity values are honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage.

妹团视频 students have to complete the annually to learn about academic integrity and to understand the consequences of academic integrity breaches (or academic misconduct).

UC uses various strategies and systems, including detection software, to identify potential breaches of academic integrity. Suspected breaches may be investigated, and action can be taken when misconduct is found to have occurred.

Participation requirements

All students must complete a minimum of 140 hours of Exercise Science Practicum throughout Exercise Science Practicum 2 (12138), this is in addition to the 140 hours of placement completed in Exercise Science Practicum 1 (12137). More information on the practicum requirements for this unit can be found in the 'ESSA Practicum Standards', available on Canvas.

Required IT skills

It is expected that students will possess UC IT entry skills. 

In-unit costs

Students will be responsible for any costs incurred during their placement (e.g. travel costs, pre-placement requirements, name tag, polo shirt). Some placement sites may have specific requirements that will incur extra costs. 

Work placement, internships or practicums

This unit involves work integrated learning: Placement or Internship/Simulation. Students must adhere to University policy during WIL activities, including the Student Conduct Rules 2018, the WIL Policy and WIL Procedure, and the Assessment Policy and Assessment Procedure.

This unit has pre-placement requirements (e.g. Working with Vulnerable People registration, immunisation/s). You must complete Pre-Place: Preparation for Work Integrated Learning prior to commencement of your Placement or Internship. You can self-enrol in this module through the UC Learn site . These requirements must be maintained and up to date for the entirety of the unit.
