Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Apply relevant knowledge and skills across a range of health care environments to demonstrate autonomy for safe, effective and inclusive practice as a graduate-level exercise physiologist;
2. Integrate and reflect on respectful professional practice that aligns with the requirements of the placement environment, the ESSA Code of Professional Conduct and Ethical Practice and other codes of conduct, and legislation and policies that may apply;
3. Formulate and defend exercise physiology treatment planning and decision-making for complex clients and contemporary practice scenarios through sound application of clinical knowledge, skills and evidence, critical thinking and problem-solving, and person-centred care; and
4. Assemble professional evidence of core competencies and placement activities, reflective practice, and interprofessional learning, in line with the ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist Professional Standards.

- UC Exercise Physiology Clinical Placement Handbook 2026 (link provided to Mahara platform through Canvas)
- Site-specific placement preparation eLearning modules or readings may be provided by Clinical Placement Coordinator, the UC Placement Office or the placement site directly - these are all considered requirements for the placement, and therefore for this unit.
- Students should revise the content, resources and their study notes for the conditions/area(s) of clinical practice they will experience on their placement. This is pre-requisite content and assumed knowledge.
For the Exit Exam
Students will be assessed on the skills and knowledge they have developed and obtained throughout the course of the degree, all prior course content should be considered when revising for the exit exam.

Supplementary assessment
If a student does not pass the Exit Exam:
- They will be offered one additional opportunity to pass the exam, as per the assessment policy.
- Students may be offered the option to undertake additional placement experience to prepare for this if deemed appropriate.

Inclusion and engagement
Placement requirements for this unit and acheivement of competencies needed for accreditation as an exercise physiologist form the foundation of this unit, it is therefore encouraged that students raise any concerns they may have with Inclusion and Engagement as soon as possible in their course enrolment, to enable appropriate communication with the Clinical Placement Coordinator and planning for student placement allocations.
Participation requirements
Students are required to attend placement as allocated. There is minimal academic content in this unit to allow students to attend placement.
Required IT skills
This unit requires students to regularly engage with their 妹团视频 student email accounts, the Smartabase placement record, the InPlace management system used by the UC Placement Office, and the UCLearn (Canvas) site for this unit.
On different placements, students may also be required to learn and use different databases and software, and other digital technologies.
In-unit costs
All costs associated with placements are the responsibilty of the student. Placement allocations and management is done as equitably and ethically as possible to take into consideration student financial situations, whilst still providing students with the required placements to meet their course requirements and accreditation requirements.
Work placement, internships or practicums
